Women’s History Network Community History Prize, 2023. There were some excellent entries for the Community History Prize with some wonderful, creative projects. The judges awarded joint first prize to ‘Women listening to women’ and ‘Indian women at war’. ‘Herstory.York’ was commended for its impact on a small budget. ‘Women listening to women’ was commended for its use of volunteers and use of oral history to empower and inform participants. The project was regarded as providing very good value for money, with an impressive range of outputs. ‘Indian Women and War’ was impressive, particularly in terms of the community dissemination, the reach and range of communities included, and its innovation, especially in reacting to the challenges of Covid 19. The good, clear website was commended. ‘Herstory.York’ demonstrated very good levels of community engagement, ‘working wonders’ on a relatively small budget (while recognising its limitations) and had produced good resources. |
